A 7.36am getaway after a Chinese breakfast in the hotel with Helen.
A morning tea break at a tea shop in Pu'er with a lovely elderly chap who has been in the business for 50 years. Helen was marvelous translating their conversation so we were even able to ask questions of this Chinese man. Tea growing in this region predominates the landscape.
Next was the most amazing drive over majestic mountain ranges. Hard to describe the grandeur, it really was absolutely breathtaking. Even up on the dangerous highest peaks farmers have terraced the land. We couldn't stop for enough photos...until Dave said no more! The road by then was quite treacherous in places making our journey a slow one. Then there were the sheer drops - aaagh. We three arrived at Jianshui at 6.30pm pretty exhausted and all agreed the it had been the BEST day.
It was a shame that we were unable to visit the famous terraces at Yuangyang today but, as you can see, time wise it would have been impossible.
