We left Valpo on a crowded bus bound for Santiago, and then transferred to another crowded bus to the airport. It was a long wait for the plane, which departed for Panama City at 4 am on Dec. 30. Both that and the flight to Orlando were smooth, and we arrived there on New Year's Eve at noon. Next morning we were off on our last leg, the 10-hour drive home, which started out in driving rain. Arrived last night in clear, bright moonlight (why does it get dark so early here? We're used to long days now), and woke this morning to a dusting of snow and 13-degree temperatures.
Lots of laundry to do, and mail to open. Thanks for following our travels. Happy New Year!

P.S. When I looked in the mirror this morning, I noticed the last vestiges of my black eyes are now all gone--just in time....

Hey Guys,
Thanks for making us a part of your trip. It was fun to hear what you were up to - even sleeping at the airport. Glad you are home. We want everyone to have the opportunity to experience this cold weather. Maybe if there are more people there will be less cold per person. See ya, Bunny
Wow, you're back! That was quick! I guess I was used to your monthlong blog entries from New Zealand.
Did I miss something...black eyes???
Welcome home to the coldest winter in decades.
I hope you stored up a lot of heat from the Southern Hemisphere.
It sounded like a wonderful vacation. So the only questions now is
"Where are you going next?"

Glad you are home safe and sound. Happy New Year too!
There always seems to be a period of adjustment when you return home from a lovely adventure - hope it goes well for all of you. Jerry and I hiked a nearly 7-mile trail today and talked about your trip and the possibilities. Take Care - enjoy the chilly days :)
