Well we've been through the desert on our horse, Mr. Singh; it feels good to be out of the rain…
This morning we wandered through the beautiful Junagarh Fort (best fort so far!) and enjoyed the picturesque fog that blanketed the entire city before heading out. We're just leaving Bikaner and are about 286km from Jaisalmer where we hope to check out the annual Desert Festival. We were supposed to visit the Naugar Cattle Festival today but it turned out to be too far out of the way so we decided to skip it. Maybe it will disappoint me in hindsight but as of now we have seen so much already and I really don’t foresee myself regretting the decision.

Talk about being in the middle of nowhere...
We are in Jaisalmer and I can't imagine being in a more remote area of the world. It's a twenty-cow town, which is the India equivalent of a one-horse town. Any amount of vibrance from the high volume of people is misleading, since I have a feeling that most of them are just here for the Desert Festival. Still, it's so fascinating to walk through the alleys and watch the look in everyone's eyes that says "What in the hell are you doing here?" They just have no clue as to how the rest of the world lives, and maybe it's best.
We (including Mr. Singh) ate at a great rooftop restaurant tonight called 'Trio' which did not disappoint. It overlooked the Jaisalmer Fort and the food was quite enjoyable overall. It was the first time in three days where I dared to have Indian fare and only time will tell if it was a wise decision.
If not, it will be quite an interesting camel ride tomorrow, that's for sure.
