hi everyone,
here are some photos from chile to bolivia across the salar de uyuni. the pix generally speak for themselves. we had an amazing three days crossing from san pedro de atacama to uyuni.

i have a whole bunch more beautiful shots from Uyuni to Potosi and over to Sucre, then up to La Paz and Coroico...all in Bolivia. hopefully i'll get a chance to upload them after i get to Cusco, Peru tomorrow. I should be there for a few days...to see Machu Pichu and other sites.

Right now I'm about 7 hours by bus south of Cusco in a city called Puno. I've had the worst of colds the last week or so and have been largely immobile. On the Isla del Sol in Lago Titicaca in Bolivia I spent 3 days in bed (my Spanish 'nurse' Maria from Malaga made sure I was a good boy and rested lots, drank lots of fluids and ate well), occasionally getting out to take in the magnificent views (coming in a future blog). After that I travelled back to La Paz, the capitol of Bolivia and then turned northwards towards Peru, and Puno.

A Peruvian friend I met on a mountain bike trip on the (in)famous 'death road' to Coroico lives in Puno. He hooked me up with a doctor friend who diagnosed me with a bad cold and some minor bronchitus. Nothing that a bit more rest and some antibiotics can't cure. Little by little I'm getting better. I've lost a few kilos though.

As for Bolivia...I cannot say enough good things about the place and the people. It is a place I will go back to in the future for sure. For those of you non-spanish speakers, have no fears, there are many non-spanish speakers travelling through bolivia and beyond with no problems at all. Anyone interested in studying spanish for a few weeks? I'd recommend doing so in Sucre. It is a beautiful city....a college town in fact. Lots of young people. Lots of good energy. Lots of good places to eat well and drink well on the cheap.

until my next entry i hope you are all well.

miguelito en transito signing off for now.

Mike, glad to see you are still fulfilling the role of the modern nomad. Be sure to post your pictures of La Paz. Have you found employment yet? You might consider becoming a llama rancheros!
