Hoje tivémos mais um daqueles dias... em cheio! E podemos mesmo dizer que sobrevivemos para o contar. Hoje fizémos a famosa Estrada da Morte, também conhecida por Estrada dos Yungas, reconhecida como a estrada mais perigosa em todo o mundo. É uma estrada de montanha que une La Paz a Coroico, em terra batida com segmentos onde muito dificilmente passam dois veículos, quanto mais camiões. Mas até há poucos anos era a estrada utilizada por todos os veículos, mesmo sabendo que não há bermas para proteger de quedas para um precipício de 600m. Existindo já uma estrada de alcatrão alternativa, esta Estrada da Morte é agora utilizada principalmente para turismo em bicicleta. O que fizémos hoje chama-se downhill e roçou os limites da segurança, mas é pura adrenalina descer alguns troços desta estrada de curvas e contra-curvas a 40km/h! De notar que já várias pessoas morreram nesta estrada ao cairem pela falésia. A última foi uma turista israelita, há 3 semanas atrás, enquanto andavamos pela Argentina...

Today we had one of those days... a great one! And we can say we survived to tell the story. We did the Death Road, also known as the Yungas Road, elected as the Most Dangerous Road in the World. It's a dusty mountain road that links La Paz and Coroico, with some segments where two vehicles can hardly pass. But until few years ago, this road was used by all vehicles, even knowing there is no protection to avoid falls of 600m deep. Since there's a paved alternative now, this Death Road is now used mainly for cycling turism. What we did today is called downhill and was relatively safe, but it's pure adrenaline to go some parts of this path at 40km/h! Note that several people have died in this road, falling down the cliff. The last one was an israeli turist, 3 weeks ago, when we were traveling in Argentina...
