I'm flying on EVA to Bangkok this year via Taipei. My flight leaves at 1:30 AM but I checked out of the hotel in the morning. The Stanfort Court in San Francisco (see last entry) is a lovely old hotel. It is missing one thing. There is no place to shower at the Fitness Center. I had planned to shower before starting the 20+ hour trip to Bangkok. Oops.

The staff was very accomodating! I asked if they could call the Ritz Carlton around the corner since it is in the same hotel group and arrange for me to use their spa. Great idea.

While the request was unusual, both hotels were very accommodating. The Ritz Carlton Spa was beautiful. Soon, I was fresh and ready to start my trip.

Upon arriving at the San Francisco airport, guess what I found? There is a place in the terminal (outside of security) called Freshen Up. They have showers available and all of the necessary notions in case you are missing anything. I'll plan to use that great place on my layover on my return trip.

Well that was a revelation. Nice airport shower places exist. I arrived in Taipai after my uneventful 15 hour flight. I had a 3 hour layover and went searching for a shower! There is a Transit Hotel in the Taipei airport. It's on the 2nd floor of the terminal without leaving security. There are short term rooms (3 hours) day rooms, and shower only facilities. I tried the shower only ($11), and can report that it was really comfy. I changed into warm weather clean clothes for my arrival in Bangkok and arrived feeling fresh even if tired.

Next time you have long long flights, be sure to look for the showers in the airports!
