I chose to stay at the Stanford Court Renaissance as I am Marriott brand loyal and it had the best rates for the location. I am glad I did. The hotel has a wonderful location and the staff was accommodating above and beyond!
The hotel is located at the corner of California and Powell with a cable car stop right there. I bought a 3 day transportation pass & started out at the interesting Cable Car museum. From there I went up to Market Square. I wanted to see where my meeting would be and I had a few last minute items to purchase for my trip following SF to SE Asia.
Afterwards, I had lunch in North Beach (Little Italy) and walked down to Fisherman's Wharf. I had planned to go back to the hotel for a rest before my evening meeting event began, when I stumbled upon a Foot reflexology massage shop right on the tourist strip on the wharf. Everyone knows I can't resist a good massage but you never know where you'll find that.:) And indeed I did have a great foot massage at "Best Foot Reflexology & Acupuncture" located at the Hyatt @ Fisherman's Wharf.
San Francisco has a spirit about it.It's noisy! You can hear the music of street performers everywhere and unfortunately the lovely weather makes SF a place where many homeless decide to stay. That reminded me of Fort Lauderdale.There is no visible recession here and one can see the have's sharing with the have nots.
I enjoyed the day ambling around. I did not try to see everything and got a nice feel for the city without getting too warn out.
