Where I stayed
Hanoi Elegance 2 Hotel
The Elegance 2 Hotel earns their continually positive Trip Advisor rating. Mr. Binh, the general manager, is often greeting his guests in the lobby. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. The location on Ma May in the old quarter is terrific. The street is not as busy as some, and there are many good restaurants just nearby. The four Elegance Boutique Hotels all offer quiet, clean and comfortable rooms with free internet and in room desktop computers in most rooms. A healthy breakfast is included and I think the rooms are reasonably priced. The travel services, including arranging a Visa on arrival have been very helpful and easy. For Hanoi accomodations, I will return to Elegance 2 for sure.
This evening I invited Ms. Nguyet and Mr. Vu Do Quynh for dinner. Mr. Quynh has expressed an interest in translating some of the open source free Floss Manuals into Vietnamese. I am begging him to work on at least a few chapters of the OLPC XO or Sugar manual so that the teachers and literate residents of the VVV can access it. We first met at the hotel and I presented Nguyet with her own Certificate that she helped to design!
Then we had a lovely dinner of many courses at Restaurant 69 near the hotel. Mr. Quynh had a chance to look at my XO and see the Sugar platform it runs on in operation. I learned alot of important information from Nguyet and from Mr. Quynh this evening. I am grateful for their enthusiasm and help with the VVV project!
