Where I stayed
I aspire to travel light. Somehow, I never manage to achieve that goal. I have two large suitcases and a daypack for this trip. I planned to fly British Airways from Boston through London to Bangkok, so that I could check my bags straight through to Bangkok in Boston.
In Boston I met Adam at OLPC's 1CC office to pick up the 2 salvaged/damaged laptops that I will bring to use for learning repairs and perhaps for parts. I cannot manage to bring them along. There is no more room or weight allowance. My son Aaron will bring them to Thailand in November, and I can bring them to Vietnam in December when I hope to return for follow-up.
I had the fortunate opportunity to attend a meeting with Claudia from OLPC, Katelyn Foley, one of the Harvard students who started hellolaptop.org, and a group of students participating this year in the two Boston area deployments. I also met Elizabeth Ross who is involved with the Kasiisi Project in Uganda. I enjoy everyone I meet through OLPC and learn something valuable from everyone too.
In the morning, I'll be off bright and early!
