We stayed at the lovely Sira Boutique Hotel on the edge of the old quarter in Chiang Mai.  I had booked on the internet before our trip.  "Oak" and "Robb" were very helpful. Robb is from England and is the hotel "director."  He and his wife Julie offer great suggestions. I appreciated having a source of information in "English."  The rooms are comfy and the shower is great!  We love the calm decor in the northern Thai Lanna style.I actually like the location away from the tourist night market.  It is a nice walk through the old quarter or around the moat to the Thae Pae gate.  Tonight, Ellen met some friends from TECC there to go out.  (I am trying to catch up the blog.)

The nature outside of Chiang Mai City is beautiful.  We hiked at the Mae Sa
Waterfalls; all 10 of them.  We saw so  many butterfies, and in all
sizes and colors of the rainbow!

Ellen and I are discovering wonderful vegetarian restaurants in Chiang Mai and meeting all kinds of interesting people.  She will have stories to share.  Today we each did our own things and met up for an early scrumptious vegetarian restaurants.  Ellen went on a rain forest zip line excursion called the "Flight of the Gibbon."  "Aunt Nancie" was too sore from driving her elephant to go!  I had a nice massage and explored the old walled Chiang Mai City inside of the Moat on foot!  There are about 20 Wats (Temples) within the old city and it is very peaceful walking around there.
