Bangkok With Ellen
Mark is on his way home and my niece, Ellen G. has joined her AN for a 2 week Off-Beat Tour of Thailand!  After a lovely day and 1/2 at the Marriott Resort and Spa, we have moved across the river to cheaper digs!
First for Ellen: A Riverboat, Bangkok BTS (overhead train), Soi sights and smells, Coconut Water, and Thai-Oil Massage, and French Bowling!

Last night we met Noah and Sumalai at the Jewelry Trade Center.  For two years Noah has been teaching a little and helping with curriculum and other things for a new gemology school for Thai's working in the jewelry industry.  We saw the school and met the owner, Noah's friend and colleague.  Afterwards we had a great dinner at the French Thai restaurant where we held the graduation dinner party.  After dinner we played the fun french game of bowling.

Today we enjoyed the sun and pool in the early morning.  After our massage and brunch, we moved to our new hotel.  The Baan Heritage Silom Bangkok is in a convenient location not too far from Noah's office.  It is just next to a BTS station for easy transportation around Bangkok.  It is a new boutique hotel (open only 5 months) that I found and booked on "Agoda."  We are thrilled!  We have free dependable internet in the lobby.  Perhaps tomorrow I will get the promised photos added!

We had a lovely afternoon at the Erawan Elephant Museum which you can read about from my earlier visit in this blog.  Sumalai's Aunt "Wow" and her first cousin, Ning, joined us and we all loved the museum, peaceful gardens and lovely coffee cafe.

Tonight we had a fabulous dinner in a small authentic Chinese restaurant just near our hotel.  Noah often ate in this same restaurant a few years ago when it was in a different location.  It has wonderful vegetarian food among other things.  Since the restaurant moved, Noah and Sumalai have been looking for the new location.  They are thrilled that they spotted it very near our hotel.  It was indeed a lucky day!

Tomorrow Ellen and I are taking a one-half day vegetarian cooking class.  Mark specifically encouraged me to learn to make some of the delicious healthy Thai food he has enjoyed here.  Keep checking in and you can read about our culinary efforts soon!
