headed out first thing for Plitvice Lakes with not a clue about accomodations or anything... it all worked out, just ended up being a little more expensive than i would have liked... i had read about the hostels in the area being in a little town called Grabovac, so instead of getting off at the lakes entrance like my ticket said, i got off a stop or two early... only to realize that if i did stay in Grabovac, it would be terribly difficult to get to the lakes even though it was only 8 km away, apparently the buses are kinda random and unreliable, so i was soon to find out... so i managed to get a bus over an hour later right to the lakes... so i asked the information center about camping and they say there is none... except back at grabovac... great! so the girl points me in the direction of this little sub-division of houses where mostly all of them do private room accomodations.. i managed to get a room for 150 kuna (about 30$)... it was really quite great... my own room, big double bed, and my own shower... it was wonderful!! no kitchen so i ended up having to eat at the only restaurant in the area which was really expensive! there was no market, or anything else, so that sucked... once i got in and settled it started to pour down with rain, so i took a nap and chilled in my room... when i woke up it was cleared up so i went exploring a little... it was late so there was no point going into the lakes only for a few hours... so i just walked around the area...
now to the magical part....
so in the morning i woke early to see it was a gorgeous day and headed to the lakes... i started out on the long walking path starting at the lower lakes and going up to the upper lakes... i would say the lower ones were much more stunning... the color is this impossible blue and aqua marine.. the first waterfall (one of the biggest in croatia) was awesome... i was able to hike to the top and see the amazing view of it going down... the walk along the top was great cause you get to see how the lakes kinda waterfall into each other... down close to  the water again, you can see the fish and plant life so clearly cause the water is so clear... its incredible...  you can either walk around the big lake, or take this little boat thing... this is where i broke from the long walking path and went for the boat ride... from there i walked up to the upper lakes and the little waterfalls and brooks were beautiful... i think there are 7 lakes in total... words can hardly describe it... i spent the entire day just walking around, sitting in the sun enjoying the views... hope my pictures do it justice!
next day it was just pouring down buckets again, so i thank my lucky stars that i chose the day i did to go to the lakes... so back to the unreliability of the buses here... i got to the stop at 9ish... missed 3 supposed buses and caught the 4th at 12:30... WTF!!! either way, i'm just thankful i had a proper bus shelter so i wasn't right out in the rain!
