en route to Orkney we stopped at Smoo Cave (smuga being a viking word for hiding, or hole), over millions of years the rain fall made cracks through the limestone rock and created a waterfall into an underground chamber that eventually flows out the main cave entrance.. we went beachcombing for rocks that have had water drip for so long in the same spot that it made a hole straight through.. people believe that some rocks, if you look through the hole you can see the future.. we each found a rock with a hole in it but no one saw the future..
we also stopped at Castle Mey, which was the holiday home of the late Queen Mother... we were too late to go inside, but it was quite a nice view from the outside...
we found a gorgeous beach to play around on for a while.... it was really cold but that didn't stop the surfers we saw out catching the waves... pretty wikked waves and hardly anyone around to enjoy 'em... so we kicked around a football and threw jellyfish at each other... you know, the normal stuff you do at the beach... i was lucky enough to stay clean, but Sarah and Beverly were not so fortunate... Scott was just being a big bully... but i think sand up the kilt from Beverly was fairly good revenge...
