Relieved to say the least, to get the hell out of Mildura, the view from the bus window shows us just how in the middle of nowhere we really area. Fields and farms that stretch as far as the eye can see, the sun beating down on the familiar never ending rows of vines.

Approaching Barmera, the scenery improves drastically, but for some reason my spirits do not. I say that I live my life as I want to, making every day count and here I am on a bus to another lifeless destination for god knows how many months. Of all the places in the world my heart is panging to visit, I am spending my hard earned money to go to a place in the middle of nowhere, with no promise of secure work, work that I will enevitably hate.

Gladly, these feelings pass, as I see the beautiful countryside, the sprawling Murray River and even more so as this scenic picture carries us all the way to the door of our room.

Sure the place is a mess, there's mice living in the oven and ciggerrette butts as far as the eye can see, but as we enter our room, our OWN room with TV, Fridge, bathroom and wait for it....6 pillows! I know I don’t sleep with any pillows at all but the exsistence of them makes life much more comfortable. In the common area theres a pool table, decks and an outside lounge which would have once been beautiful but for now is complete with car seat furniture, but the blazing sun that hits the spot makes it just perfect for the likes of the clientel.

The people are warm and lovely, giving us an instant low down, you can’t drink the tap water, shopping day is on Saturday, ect ect. There is a nice mix of Europeans, a good handful of Italians and all is looking up.
