During the past 36 hours or whatever since I left home, many things have occurred to me to write about in the blog. As I sit, worn out and weary, I find most of them leaving my head.

So, I must do my best to write down what's happening now before it leaves my head!

We left Adelaide at some ridiculous time and flew to Melbourne. Here we collected our bags ("we only do point to point baggage cos we’re Jetstar and you booked through Qantas, wah wah") and went through customs etc. Still time to spare, we went through the billion security checkpoints to hang out in the terminal lounge, only to find there was nothing to eat or drink there... d’oh. Then the plane was late and delayed over an hour and... Whatever, we eventually got on.

So off to Los Angeles! Here I want to point out that the A380 airbus is AWESOME. Seats comfortable, entertainment great, service fantastic... Even my lard arse fit in there good so hey, economy wins!

Ahem well after a tiring long flight across the pacific, during which I caught some winks but Matt did not, we landed in LAX just a mere 20 minutes late. Immigration took a while, but not too long... baggage however we waited and waited, missed our connecting flight and still waited for the second bag. Then it turns up in oversize baggage, despite it being smaller than most other bags (it was just a tripod in a tripod-sized bag!)... So we had to reschedule flight from 9:20 (long gone) to 12:10. The interconnecting flights people took one of our bags and whisked it away, then refused to take the second one! What why? They just ran off with it... If it weren’t for all the cops about I would’ve thought they were trying to steal it... A nice woman directed us to the American Airlines counters so we could find out what the hell was going on, and the AA lady was just as confused as us. Well she got us emergency exit seats (yay leg room) on the next flight and we hobbled off to wait for it minus the second check-in baggage.  We both wore boots, I’ll point out here, which were not the most comfortable of shoes because we were under the impression it would be raining in our destinations and we have no other waterproof shoes. I would now like to point out LA was beautifully sunny and delightful. Anyway a cranky Matt waited by ours bags while I explored, snacked, and got Starbucks. Eventually we got to catch the tiny plane to San Fran, and it was very comfortable and the staff were friendly. In general people in service positions, even those who don’t get tipped, are heaps nice and nice – they’ll try to help in any way they can! Strangers though seem to be complete strangers (surprise surprise) and won’t acknowledge you unless you get in their way (urgh bad idea) or you ask for help (which has so far been met with smiles and positive responses! Lol).

We took the BART to Civic Centre and easily found the Best Western Americania. Thanks to the super delays, we arrived just at check-in time and didn’t need to leave our bags at the desk! ;)

The decor is awesome and there is plenty of space, this hotel doesn’t have any restaurant or whatever but it has connections to a couple of local food joints which deliver to the door so it’s cool, especially the burger one the burgers were so good...

Oh I skipped one of the main reasons we’re buggered. After we checked in we walked a few blocks over and shopped for TWO HOURS. We bought shoes, jeans, a new suitcase, socks, a cheap crap local mobile phone.... and a pretzel. Joanne will be pleased to know there is Beard Papa here, too :D

I haven’t got the DSL working on my laptop yet, for some gay reason so you’ll just see a few reaaally crap photos from my old silver camera for now.  Tomorrow, we start our week-long Western Tour with TrekAmerica... woohoo, can’t wait :D It was good San Fran for one night, but I look forward to seeing... mooooarrrr!

Well now I’m winding down, it may be mid-afternoon for you but its nearly 9pm for me and I am buggered. So I’ll leave you with this log of text that may or may not make sense.

Peace out!
