Finally, I'm updating the last of my London trip (from a month ago, hmm)!
Well this was the last full day I had to enjoy my siblings in laws company, and enjoy it I did. In the morning we headed out to Regent's Park (I think) after sleeping in a bit. Today Trent finally got a day off too, so he came along and provided us with lunch :)
The park was really beautiful, and full of people enjoying the sunshine of course! I got to see all sorts of flowers and waterfowl, and a slightly sad-looking (but so cute!!) squirrel too. It was so relaxing to just soak in some sunshine!
After our Trent-provided lunch, we headed in the direction of the zoo. It was a tiny bit confusing as one of the signs seemed to point the wrong way, but luckily there are plenty of maps so we found it eventually. There was, of course, the usual fee to get in and then a "voluntary contribution" to an animal cause of some sort. I almost stinged out of the entire 2ish euros, but in the end I just forked out, after all I had a student discount anyway :P
The London Zoo was really a lot of fun! I kept thinking about how I would prepare this fish or that animal if I were to cook it, which I'm sure is a bit strange, but hey I enjoyed myself! After the disappointment of the London Aquarium it was also nice to see a decent setup here. The Australian wallabies had joeys, the Komodo dragon was posing, the fluffy tiger was sleeping on its back, and the African dogs were running all around... I could have spent hours more here, but I was getting really stuffed and I guess Trent and Megan were probably tired of the animals :P So I spent some cash at the souvenir shop and we headed off.
As it was my last night, Megan cooked up a UK-version of the Creasey Spag Bol, and it was really really yummy! I certainly slept well that night.
The next morning I had to say my goodbyes, as I had to get back to Austria (sigh). Originally I intended to buy some souvenirs on the way to the airport, but I didn't find anything worth buying so I just got a heap of postcards! I didn't end up returning my Oyster card to get my 3 euro deposit back, as I decided it would make a nice souvenir itself :3
So then I flew back to Linz in the ever so comfortable (haha) Ryanair, and had a pleasant evening doing very little!
As a final comment, I'd just like to say that I loved London - I loved the public transport, the atmosphere, the parks, the shops, the people, the signs in english (hehe), the history... the city has such character! I should definitely love to visit here again, and of course seeing Megan and Trent was the best part of all :)
Until next time! Farewell!
