This trip really started off strong with the San Fermin festival in Spain, so it's not really surprising that it’s ending on a slightly quieter note.

My last few days of the trip were spent in Sofia, Bulgaria. I had heard some pretty negative things about the place, but I really found it to be fine, once again proving to me that you really can’t take other people’s accounts of places too seriously and that it’s always best to go see a place for yourself.

I did go out one night on a 'pub crawl’ with several Europeans from Germany and Poland. The local Bulgarian guides were very cool and they took us to some places we would have never found otherwise. The best ‘pub’ was a place called The Apartment which was just as the name implied, a gigantic apartment. It was located in an old building with a long and interesting history that dated back to pre-World War II years. All drinks and food were served from the kitchen and it had the feel of being at a house party. It was a good way to finish off my travels.

Overall, this trip was pretty good, if a bit repetitive at times. I probably made a mistake by traveling through so many small countries with so much in common. In the end though, the trip was still easy and enjoyable – it was Europe after all.

Another trip is done and it’s time to get back to work…
