DOMINIQUE HERE:
Day : 420
Temperature : 20 degrees
Weather : Mixed
Change of plans. We decided to come up to Sabie to see some of the awesome scenery in the area and take a trip into Kruger National Park rather than go straight to Mozambique, since we were actually in the area anyway.
And so the following morning, in FREEZING temperatures, we drove up to Graskop and onto The Pinnacle and God's Window. The landscapes were amazing, with remarkable rock formations and exotic looking plants and flowers. The weather was pants however, and the cloud was gathering around the mountains which was a bit disappointing….especially when Cape Town was basking in 26 degree heat! But the scenery certainly made up for it….absolutely stunning!
In the afternoon we decided to head to Kruger. But upon approaching the gate there was a huge signpost saying "Quota Full, No Entry". Marvellous! It had not occurred to us that there may be a daily limit for vehicles entering the park. Nowhere had we seen this written, and nobody had mentioned this to us. The guard at the gate advised us to get there at 6am the next day to be certain of entry. Sometimes it doesn’t pay to be spontaneous when travelling!! And so with nothing else to do we ventured into the town of Hazyview for an early night, where we made the most of the Belgian Bakery, the Sushi restaurant and some nice wine!
