Most delicious local food : Chilli Bar, Pokhara, Nepal…the greatest curries in the world!

Most awful local food : The many restaurants at Mount Bromo, Indonesia, and the plantation hotel at Kawa Ijen, Indonesia….it’s always worrying when a restaurant tries to cook a pot noodle!

Most delicious western food : Via Via, Yogyakarta, Indonesia – great salads, great cheese, great bread, just great! And the Yoga Barn, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia – awesome wraps, and great raw chocolate desserts!

Most awful western food : a tea house on the Annapurna circuit, Nepal – inedible pancakes, I’m sure made with flour and water, then fried in a gallon of oil…absolutely disgusting.

Friendliest people : The muslim women on the minibus journey through Aceh, Sumatra, Indonesia; the pilgrims of Tibet; but the Kiwis may be up there on top as well, it’s looking that way!

Unfriendliest people :  The city folks of Moscow and St. Petersburg, sorry Russians; and the market sellers in Thailand

Scariest Situation : The bus from Jakarta to the west coast….frightening!  and, being stuck in the middle of no-where 3,000 metres in the mountains of Nepal with Kevin and his disclocated patella, and night descending rapidly!

Happy travelling to everyone, where ever you are.
