Thats right I did a tour to Port Arthur, where it is the worst place for convicts to be sent to. At first back in Adelaide he said I should see POrt Arthur and I said I will but I had not idea that he actually booked me on a tour! It was a fun one. The driver was very sarcastic and made things very interesting, in a good way! We stopped again in Richmond where he talked a bit about it and gave us some information on some houses. Saw the bridge again. It was sunny so that made a nice difference.
We stopped at a nice beach, he said its nice for surfing...perhaps he was sarcastic because we didnt see any waves that is good for surfing. Port Arthur is where the convicts who did hte worse crime would go. You could not escape as there were two gates you had to cross. The first one had a line of dogs with a line of soliders. You could swim in the river if you knew how to swim which not many people back then knew
We went through a town called "Doo" and all the houses where named with this. So there was the "Doo F**K All", "Sheil-Doo", "Didgiridoo", etc....
Arrived in Port Arthur and went walking around seeing some ruins. Did a cruise and they explained a bit more. Children were also there, by 4 years old you were an adult, by 7years old you had full responsibility! Very cruel. Although the place looks really nice now!
Port Arthur is like a village.
We were each given a card of a convict and had to find out about our convict.
This is where I met Christine from Belgium who I later met on the Great Ocean road tour.
