Off to Cape Tribulation.....it is situated in the norh in the middle of a beautiful rainforest. It is the only spot in the world where two national heritage meet: the rainforest with the great barrier reef. I went with "Adventure Tropical Explorer". We had a really good tour guide, Debra who knew her stuff.

We went for a little cruise on the Daintree river to spot any crocs. We saw one! A really HUGE one....10 month old and about 50cm long! Looked like an iguana....still at least we got to see one. It was high tide and mating season so the females are off further in land and the boys are cruising to find a female. Not the time for croc spotting. The off we went again and stopped for a boardwalk into the rainforest, learning about the animals and plants. Tried some wild fruit (safe!) which made our tongue blue instantly. Saw some spiders and a dragon lizard, unique to the north rainforest so pretty lucky to have seen one. There are these mushrooms who grow on the tree trunks and at night they glow....really cool....We saw a jewel spider....actually doesnt look like a spider and is pretty cute! Really it is!

I was staying in the beach house, hostel in the rainforest, really quiet. By the beach which you could swim beacause of Jelly fish and crocs! AH yes they didnt warn of sharks but crocs instead! Met some nice people, some from Melbourne, one from Denver and a few swiss people. The food was not too bad either, surprisingly!

The next day, I decided to go on a horseback riding. Now that was AWESOME! Went for about 4hrs...still feel muscle soreness today! Went on the beach, in the rainforest and swam in a creek. My horse was name Duke, really good horse. We all did gallop so that was awesome and the guy told me he could see that I have done it before....nice compliment....

The next day I just chilled by the pool waiting for my bus. On the way back we stopped at a look out where you could see where Steve Irwin died. We also went to Mossman Gorge for a dip, really cool. The went to stop in Port Douglas, nice little town, apparently it is the richest town in Australia with only 2000 people living there and a few of them (30!) being millionaires! Then back to Cairns where I went for dinner with some swiss people, german and brazilian people.

Today I am booking the rest of my trip and going around the pretty town of Cairns.

Off to Alice Spring tomorrow with the plane.

G' day
