Another beautiful sunny day on the Rhine River. We woke up sailing along a peaceful rural stretch of river. Midmorning we docked not far from the “Bridge Too Far” at Arnhem. Stuart and I walked to the bridge and crossed it. We got behind some people taking their bikes from the river level to the bridge. The steps were very steep and there was a wheel trough to make it easier to push the bikes up. The bridge was bombed after the battle to keep the Germans from using it. After the war the bridge was rebuilt.
After lunch we went on a short driving tour of Arnhem and then out to the Airborn Museum, the glider landing field, and the British Cemetery. We left Arnhem for Nijmegen and arrived around 8:30 pm. There was a casino less than a block from the ship and many people went there until the ship was to leave for Kinderdijk (Kinderdike).
