Aha! Finally in the South! Charlotte, North Carolina is beautiful! My traveling foursome made it here in one piece and we've been bunking down at my sister-in-law's place spending some much needed quality time with her and her family. The humidity isn't as bad as I expected, but the bugs are out in full force and they've only got a taste for me. That's ok, at least my little ones are unaffected. Can I just say, how much I truly love how gorgeous the east coast is with tall trees that  canopy over beautiful homes that have those cool storm doors. Can you tell I'm from California? We've been having a blast since we arrived on Tuesday night and this afternoon we had ourselves a delicious southern meal at dish restaurant.

I gobbled up the fried green tomatoes, parmesan popovers-- that are really deep fried mashed potatoes in disguise, and thoroughly enjoyed my cajun meatloaf. If that doesn't say savory and hearty, I don't know what does. We also tried moon pies, which, I'm not trying to offend anyone here, but wasn't my cup o' tea. But my kids thought otherwise.

Our visit to downtown/uptown (*weird that locals refer to it both ways) Charlotte reminds me a little bit of downtown Indianapolis. It's not too big, but there are a few high rises and a cool little park hidden above a parking garage where kids can keep cool by running between fish statues spouting off water. What also caught my eye, was there were plug-in stations in the parking garage for plug-in cars. Very cool. We don't have too many of those in the Bay Area...yet. It's time to sign off and in a few days, we leave for Asheville, North Carolina.
