I was fortunate enough on my last visit to the PI, to have seen Taal Volcano when we went to Tagaytay. Unfortunately, this time around, it wasn't the case. We did however enjoy eating fruit bought at some roadside fruit stand, a visit to a beautiful chapel/retreat house, and some fun hiking in the dark. The latter sounds dangerous, right? It was, a bit.

We wanted to leave early for Tagaytay to beat traffic, but since we had to wait for my aunt, we couldn't leave til early afternoon. Somehow, we managed to still make it to purchase fruit from Tagaytay's plentiful roadside fruit stands. We bought and ate mangosteens (though not completely ripe at the time, but still yummy), chica, various bananas, pina, and lonsones. Mmm, makes my mouth water just remembering how good that fresh fruit tasted.

Our long drive brought us to Caleruega. It's a location with a chapel crested up a hill, serves as a retreat house, and wedding venue. A spiritual center located on top of the hill with 180-degree views of hilltops and small towns. This was a welcome visit, as the weather up here was much cooler, so bring a light sweater or jacket. As the grounds for where the Chapel were closing, and a hint of sunlight remained, my Aunt insisted we see the hanging bridge, koi pond, and hike in near darkness (actually, it was plenty dark already) to see a panoramic view of Tagaytay. I will say, getting to that view was quite a feat, considering we had two toddlers with us. Fortunately, everyone made it back. It was a bit fun to hike in darkness. But thanks to my trusty flashlight app on my iphone, we couldn't have made it through.

We had dinner at Leslie's. Wednesday, calls for a busy day for the mister and I. Believe it or not, we squeezed in a Boracay trip with just the two of us. Sans kiddies. Thank you Lord. Actually, thank you to my mom and family for allowing us this mini-getaway.
