Well, I oversleep and am running late. Not really late as I don't have concrete plans. But if I did have concrete plans I would almost certainly be late.
Noah takes Woody down the street to the park whilst I get ready and rustle up a pack lunch for Woody.
We head up the road to a different shopping centre which has a Batman craft. Woody generally has to be coerced to participate in crafts, but a Batman one, he is keen. So he colours in a picture of batman, superman, and wonder woman to decorate a cup and he is really enjoying it. And then the girls organising it tell me that batman will be making an appearance shortly. So we hang around and wait for Batman and Woody passes the time by climbing on stuff.
Batman arrives and frankly, he is a not good. He is in an ill-fitting costume, walks a bit like one of those dancing horses, and lacks the definition in his jaw line to really be a superhero. He also needs a shave. Woody just says, that’s not the real batman, that’s just a man in a costume. I agree and we go to the food court. Batman continues to prance around swishing his cape.
Woody eats his pack lunch and I eat fries and drink coffee. It is a very satisfying meal. Some lovely lovely little girls come and give Woody a toy they don't want and Woody is over the moon. What lovelies.
We wander around a little and then we decide to head to our local cinema.
So, we go and watch Brave. The beginning is awesome and then it gets really scary. Woody is no lightweight and he looks a bit scared in a very realistic bear fight. But he says he does not want to leave. So we sit through it, and he likes most of it, although I am not sure he relaxes the way he did in Bambi.
So Woody and I razz around and get some groceries and he pretty much makes really loud bear noises around the entire shop. I let him because to mother’s ears, bear noises are preferable to whinging and on a Friday afternoon – they are probably my options.
I go get Woody and ice cream and then we head home. Woody and Noah play and I make a scrumptious curry for dinner. Woody eats all the curry, even the things I thought he would leave. I did put some ham in it, to unvegetarianise it for Woody – but still he ate everything. Noah and I could not believe it. Woody properly loves curry.
Woody goes to bed, and I look at some more markets and then I write some emails. And then it is suddenly late and I am completely out of batteries.
Although I have just remembered a lovely story from yesterday. Elwood had his special news and apparently it went really well. Woody does enjoy a captive audience and he took the opportunity to talk his class through the entire story of Brother bear. His teacher said it was really beautiful. He also took in his homemade totems and a bear puppet. Woody is never happier than when he is spreading the word of Brother Bear, where the lights touch the earth, and animal spirits.
Goodnight good people. x
