We wake up late. (We as in me and Noah, Mum has been up browsing you tube clips with Woody.)  In one way, yikes!, we are running late.  In another way, high five!, as we wake up rested and not shattered.

Noah gets Woody dressed and I get ready.  I have an interview this morning so I run around doing all the stuff I should have done last night.  Noah takes Woody to school whilst I make an effort to look presentable-ish.

Once Noah is home I throw myself into the car, turn up Levi Lowrey so loud the car shakes, and head down the coast.  Super.  I am later than I wanted to be but on time.  Happy.  And I find a park on the main street of Burleigh, first lap around.  I find the $20 we thought had flown out the window at the McDonalds drive thru weeks ago.  It has all the signs of a winning day.  I find the cafe we are meeting at, text to say I have arrived, and pull up a chair in the brightest sun, overlooking the park and with ocean 'glimpses'.  Happy.

I get a text message from the lady I am meeting, she is super apologetic but she has forgotten about our meeting as her daughter has gone into hospital.  Completely understandable and obviously not a problem for me.  So a test of character for me.  Do I head home and get on with the squillion things I have to do or do I linger over a latte. Take a guess?  Test of character:  Fail.  I stay for a sneaky latte and doorstop slices of raisin toast loaded with butter.  Oh my, such delicious.  Such glorious sunshine.  And I have my audio book on me so I enjoy half an hour of relaxation.

When I cannot drag out one cup of coffee any longer I head back to the car.  I set my audiobook up in the car and I head back up the coast to home.

When I get home the mothership is busy planting strawberries in garden – which is looking fabulous!  I collect the husband and we head back up the motorway for some present shopping for Woody.  We buy him the little Ikea kitchen.  We have loved it for so long and a kitchen is the things he enjoys playing with most at a playgroup.  So we buy it and we are delighted.  We hope Woody is as happy with it.  We also buy him the little fabric birthday cake and ice-cream set from Ikea, as he always played with it at the Awesomestow-Eves.  And that’s all we came for and we are heading to the checkout when we just call past the kitchen section....

That was an expensive detour!  I buy 2 frying pans, 2 egg flips, a big spoon, a wok and 2 really big biscuit trays. I am very happy about this as these are things I have wanted to buy for ages.  Also I have so much baking to do this week, the right equipment will make the week a bit easier.

We have one more detour for Noah to buy 5 bars of chocolate.  We head down to the car park and neither of us can remember where we have parked the car.  We walk up and down the rows and there is no sign of our car.  Gulp.  All we can recall is the car that was parked in front of us.  It turns out, that car has left and we are clueless as to where the car is.  We are not the smartest people ever.  Finally, we find the car, nowhere near where we were expecting it to be, and we are relieved.

We head back down the highway, with a quick detour to the service station for fuel and refreshments.  Back on the road we keep heading down the coast and we have another detour to shopping centre in Helensvale.  We look to buy a writing set, four shops we went into, and no one sells writing sets anymore!  We also buy a stack of brown cardboard to make Gruffalo face masks for the party and some fresh food for dinner.

And finally, we are on our way home again.  We get home, we drink coffee.  Noah gets on with work and I have no recollection what I do but half an hour whizzes by in a heartbeat.

And then it is time to go and get Woody.  Noah and I both go.  He is happy to see us.  All the children look happy, it could be on account of the cupcakes they are eating.  They made butterfly cakes today and they look beautiful.  He also has a couple of little gorgeous little craft projects to take home.  We are very proud of Woody’s efforts.   I chat to the teacher and she shows me what she has planned for tomorrow.  They are reading The Gruffalo tomorrow, and are doing Gruffalo themed activities so are they all in the zone for Woody’s party.  Excellent!

Back at home Woody is very tired.  He plays a little and helps Mum in the garden.  We have a little sort out in Woody’s room, boxing up books and toys he is getting a little old for.  Progress is slow as Woody does not like any of his stuff disappearing from his room.   I make dinner and then we all eat together.  Woody is unsure about dinner, a vegetable and cashew dahl.  He agrees to eat it if he can have a bowl of frozen peas too.  I shrug and get him some peas.  Woody and Mum play a game where they put frozen peas down each other’s clothing.  And then Woody happily puts frozen peas down his own t-shirts and keeps cracking up laughing as the cold runs down his belly.  I know he is essentially throwing food around, and I should be strict, but we all laugh like crazies.

Woody has a bath and I get him to try on some clothes to see what still fits – it appears he has had another growth spurt.  He is delighted to be reunited with some old favourite jumpers.  He is lovely.  Woody gets ready for bed and we play one of Woody’s game where we just say ‘poo and plop’ over and over again.  He is literally falling about laughing and so am I.

He goes to sleep and is just too beautiful.  I make 25 gruffalo face masks and a mouse eye mask – ready for the party.  I have lots of other party things to do tonight; we are running out of time!

Noah is working in the office and the mothership is soundo.

And that is us for today.

Goodnight folks.  x
