It's Mother’s Day and I get a bit of a lie in. Excellent.  I call out to Woody the second I wake and he runs in launching himself in my direction.  Happy times.

He is super excited to give me my present.  He has written and illustrated a book for me called 'Mummy and Elwood go to Loveheart World’.  It is easily the best book I have ever read.  Woody (and Noah!) have clearly worked hard on it and Woody is very proud of it.  I am so happy.  He also gives me some cards he has made and a biscuit he made at preschool.  No sooner has he given it to me, he is ripping into it.  We share it (not exactly evenly, but I am not one to complain).  It’s delicious.

We then wake the Mothership and bestow on her the gifts of animal print slippers and a hot water bottle cover.  She is on her way to the south west next week - it gets cold.  We also give her a card which I let Woody choose which has a dog dressed up as a rapper on the front.  Inside it says ‘Rappy Birthday’.  We scribbled out birthday, and wrote Mother’s Day.  We are all class.

The fellas make coffee and homemade granola and yoghurt for Mum and I.  It is beyond delicious and we enjoy every mouthful.  Who would have thought that Noah is an expert granola maker.  2 days ago – I don’t think he even knew what granola was.

After brekkie, Noah cracks on with work, I get dressed and Mum and Elwood watch You Tube clips of orang-utans in Borneo.  Randon, I know.  They both love it.

And then we get on with some projects.  Woody and I make some signs for ‘Ham Nite’ later in the week.  Woody explains he is more excited about Ham Nite than his birthday.  I had guessed that...

Mum is busy knitting Woody a luxuriant beard.  Woody watches her expectantly.  Every now and then Mum puts the knitting needles down and Elwood asks her to keep knitting.  He is so excited that he will have a beard later this week.

Mum and Elwood watch Lion King 2 and I sort through some recipes, and make some monkey cupcakes.  I make some lunch and then I show Woody his monkey cupcake.  He loves it!

We wander around the garden looking at what we need to do before the party and the Mothership writes a list.  Mum sorts the laundry, I finish the cupcakes and Noah winds up work for the moment.

And then we head down to the beach.  The beach is gorgeous and the sunlight is sensational. We play ball, we chase each other, we push each other over and generally laugh our heads off. Woody collects some giant bits of wood and then we head back to the car.

It takes an age to get home.  When we get home Woody has a bath and I rustle up some dinner for us all.  We eat and chat and then Woody goes to bed.  We read 3 strange stories and then Woody is asleep.

We watch some TV and write list after list of things we need to do for Woody’s party.  It is a pretty overwhelming.  We then write a list of everything which has to be done every day this week.  And now, it is just exhausting. Yikes.  I try and get my head around the shopping, but I am too tired to think straight.  So I write the blog!

Noah makes a cardboard cut-out of the Gruffalo for the party.  It looks so brilliant.  Woody is going to love it.

And that is us for today.  We have got some stuff day and we have written so many lists that this week is going to be a crazy one.    Must get some rest tonight because from tomorrow onwards it will be Gruffallo central around here.

Good night.  x
