Woody wakes and is not interested in Noah and me and just wants the Mothership. That is the double edged sword of being Elwood's favourite; he only wants her in the morning.  I could get used to this!  Actually, day 3 and I already am....

So, it appears the mothership gets up, feeds Elwood his breakfast, lets Elwood also eat most of her breakfast and tidies the kitchen.

In true relay style, by the time I get up the still jet-lagged Mothership is asleep again.  Noah and I get ready and the 3 of us are out the door on time.  This feels good.  Noah drops Woody and me at a community centre where we have a morning of activities planned, and Noah off in search of a hairdresser to tame his Lady Di locks.

Woody and I attend Sing and Groove glass: 45 minutes of nursery rhymes and actions.  He enjoys it for about 75% of the time, and then he just seems to run out of batteries and lies on me.  There is a 45 minute break between this class and our next class so we go into the gorgeous playroom next door and woody plays dinosaurs and kitchens and is generally charming.  I am slightly taken aback when a little boy about Woody’s age join’s the group and approaches Woody and me and says I want to tell you a story.  The story starts sad and then ends happy.  'Do you want to hear the story?’ he asks.  Woody nods enthusiastically (The kid gave Woody one of his sandwiches so Woody is putty in his hands).  So, the boy continues, ‘there once was a man who was nailed to a cross’.  This was not the story I was expecting.  One of the Mums mentions that he likes preaching.  I am speechless.

Next we attend story time and it is brilliant.  We read a Hungry caterpillar and there are loads of hungry caterpillar themed activities, puzzles and games.  All the kids love.  Woody really engages with it.  The teacher starts the class by talking to the kids about how to listen with you whole body – what your eyes do, hands do etc.  This was like a magic wand being waved over Woody – he sits like an angel and participates with enthusiasm.

After class end Noah comes to collect us with a fabulous new barnet.  I think it is good interview hair.

We drop Noah off at home and collect the Mothership and head to the cinemas.  We watch the pirate captain as although Woody had already seen it, he wanted to see it with Grandma.  He monsters a hot dog, I monster popcorn and Woody has a little treasure chest of other pirate type snacks.  We are a happy pirate crew.

After the movie we browse in a couple of shops as the Mothership needs some sensible footwear.  Fans of the Mothership will be pleased to know she mostly brought inappropriate footwear.  She brought heels to wear with jeans, sandals with heels, casino shoes and trainers – given we are on the coast she buys some thongs/flip flops.  And for reason’s I cannot explain, Woody gets some old man type slippers.  He loves them!

We head home and Woody’s eyes are practically hanging out his head with tiredness.  He plays me up for almost an hour whilst I try and get him to sleep.  Today I am blessed with both calmness and stubbornness and I win and Woody sleeps.  Phew.

Mum sorts some admin, Noah keeps working, and I make pizza bases.  And that is pretty much all that happens before he is awake again.

Woody watches TV and then plays Lego with Mum whilst I rustle up dinner.

We eat and chat and it is lovely – the pizza and the company.  Then I receive a brilliant email about someone who has read my article and it struck a chord with them.  I am frankly, over the moon, and this just makes my day.

Woody goes to sleep in a heartbeat, mum sorts out computer stuff, Noah works, and I do kitchen stuff, a bit of admin, and come up with a plan of attack tomorrow.

And that is us for today.  A good day, no question.  We have placed an order for a great day tomorrow.

Goodnight
