It's a big day in our family. We are up early and out the door just after 7am. Woody has a breakfast date with the Easter Bunny. He is psyched. He wears a pirate hat and eye patch to show the Easter Bunny. It is all very exciting.
We get there and there are loads of tables set up with chocolate eggs, rabbit ears, and colouring in. There is also a face painter and a man who has clearly got stuck into the chocolate early as he just keeps making everyone yell 'happy easter, easter bunny!’. Normally this would annoy me, but Elwood’s joy is contagious so I wear my rabbit ears happily and cheer enthusiastically for the big rabbit.
Woody has pancakes and OJ for brekkie and I have a delicious and free coffee. Woody is so wonderfully behaved and I feel so proud of him. He is given a big bag of chocolates and everyone around him is eating chocolates so I let him have 1 tiny chocolate. He is over the moon and cannot believe his luck.
The kids all line up and high five the easter bunny a couple of times and then they all walk into the cinema where there are some dancers who put on a little easter song and dance and they have a dance with he big rabbit. Woody takes me by surprise and really enjoys this.
However, he does notice that the Easter Bunny is not real, he tells me it is just a man in a suit. I ask him how he knows that and he says he saw some of his neck. There was not much I could say to that and it somehow does not lose any of the magic for Woody.
Woody has preschool today so we head over there. They have an easter fun day planned and there are lots of easter activities set up throughout the garden for the kids to do. It looks like such fun and everyone is laughing and smiling and there are the beginnings of a water fight emerging. Woody is delighted to be there and I am sorry to be leaving.
This is going to sound ridiculous, but the next I finally sort out Woody’s Immunisation record. It takes ages to fix the errors but I just sit there whilst it is sorted. And at last, done. Thank goodness.
I pop home to pick up Noah and we head over to Pacific Fair. Noah wants to look around the shops in preparation for his job application project. We have an excellent look around all the surf and swimwear shops and Noah makes me pose next to various items of clothing so he can capture pictures of them. We see lots of inspiration and I accidentally fall in love with 2 dresses. When we get our good news re: work I may well be popping back to pay those dresses a visit....
We have some lunch and we walk in the sunshine and it’s terrific. I find another elusive Mr Men book which only leaves us about 6 in the whole series to get. High five! We fail to track down another audio book on sale, so I will obviously obsess about that for the next few days....
A quick detour via the supermarket to get some easter supplies and we are on our way home. We are at home only briefly and then we are off to collect the wonderful Woody. He has had a terrific day. He has made a little easter basket, been on an egg hunt, made a card and eaten an easter egg. His face is painted like a rabbit. You can see in the preschool easter photo just what a great day he has had. This just makes our day to see the little fella so happy at preschool.
Next, but he is not so happy for long. He is due another injection and he is booked in for today. On the way to the doctors I tell him about the immunisation and he knows very well what is about to happen and he, in theory, knows why. All good.
It starts well. He is patient waiting at the docs, he is chatty with the doctors and nurses, and he has in own Wiggles band aids to make getting injections ‘fun’. And then he gets the injection and he sobs and sobs for ages. And he says his arm is really sore. He cannot walk but he manages to eat a Freddo Frog. ‘Five a Day’ has a whole new meaning around easter...
Back at home Woody and Elwood chill and watch some TV and I make some dinner. Woody eats but he is out of sorts for the rest of the day. He goes to bed without fuss and is asleep in a heartbeat.
Noah and I eat, blog, and I chat to my Grandma. Noah works on his application and I think it is an early-ish night for me. Once I have updated my to do list and pat myself on the back for getting some stuff done.
I watch a bit of law and order and Noah comes and comments on Ice T being in it. I had not realised it was Ice T in it. Noah takes this opportunity to say he has spoken to Ice T. Although the way he says it he makes it sound like they are terrific pals. He says he has a photo of him and goes off to find his picture of Ice T (with vahe) . So, I have included this in the blog to show what a great friend Ice T is to us....
