Noah gets a much needed tiny sleep in this morning. Woody and I almost go to playgroup but in the end we make craft projects at home.  Since we got a book out from the library, Aesop's Fable (where the mouse saves the lion) Woody has been obsessed with it.  So this morning, Woody and I make a fantastic lion puppet and mouse puppet and we act out the book again and again – pretty much until lunch time.  We have a picture book and Woody loves telling the story.  He does a brilliant job of it.

Woody is still speaking excitedly about what he is going to be when he grows up.  He is going to hunt hunters.  I can tell, even at his age he knows this is quite noble so he kind of struts about a bit when he says it.  Sometimes he gets a bit mixed up and says he is going to be a poacher..  hmm, less noble.   he also says when he is a hunter he wants to wear nice boots.....

Inspired by the creative success of the morning Woody and I make a Pirate’s treasure chest for him to use as a lunchbox when we see the pirate movie at the weekend.  This is another roaring success.  Woody and I have the Midas touch today.

Especially Woody, who manages to invent a new sandwich filling; Cheese, vegemite and honey.  The placement of the honey and the vegemite is crucial – vegemite in the centre of the bread and honey only ever around the edge.  Woody takes this sandwich inventing very seriously and becomes a connoisseur when he tastes it.   He speaks enthusiastically about being an inventor and the sandwich fillings he is going to invent next; cucumber sandwich, and a cheese sandwich.  Woody loves the idea of inventing but has not quite got it that it has to be something which has not been done before.  We are not ones to quash enthusiasm so I listen to Elwood speak passionately about inventing the cucumber sandwich.  He really is the most fun person to spend the day with.

Until it is rest time.  Again, Woody gives me the run around.  We read, and read some more, and he promised to close his eyes at the end.  And he doesn’t.  And he winds me up and winds himself up.  Grrrrrrr.

In the end I give up and we do some cooking.  We make 24 cupcakes as part of my mission to cook every week with Woody and to make a cookbook with Woody this year.  I think we are doing okay on this.

I make some dinner and have a great chat to my Grandma on the phone.  At some point, when I am not looking, Woody gets a trillion toys out of his room and leaves them in the lounge.  Grrrr.

We eat, Woody sleeps, and then Noah works and I am meant to be working but I fear I just snack.

Good night.  x
