Well, an unexpected 'you little beauty' of a day.

Monday morning = swimming.  Today I cannot face swimming, so whilst Woody swims Noah and I chat and share a proper coffee.  Excellent.  Woody is fabulous in the pool.  I mean, really fabulous.  I cannot believe he is not even 4 yet and his arms and kicking are brilliant and he is working on his breathing.  He is impressive.  And perhaps the most impressive thing is that he does everything with sheer delight all over his face.  It is priceless.

After swimming Woody takes a dip in the kid’s pool. He loves it and it really is a fab start to the week for us all.

At the pool there are some signs up saying 5 Australian Olympians train at our local swimming pool.  Can you believe it?  How exciting is that. I hope they have a celebratory sausage sizzle to farewell them or something.  Around here. You cannot move for sausage sizzles at the weekend so I think it is fairly likely.  Also one for the Aussie team coaches is from our pool.  It is impossible not to daydream, just for half a minute, that if Woody wants to be a swimming he is possible in the very best place in the world.  Pushy parent – who me?

When we get home there is a big parcel waiting on the doorstep.  I was going to say Woody was ridiculously excited, but actually we all are. The parcel is from Nanny and papa and Woody is overcome with excitement when he glimpses what is in the box.  The most amazing soft toy lion we have ever seen.  It is the most realistic toy lion I have seen. And Woody is a connoisseur of all things lion and notices, and appreciates, just how realistic it looks.  The remainder of the morning is dedicated to making ‘Samson’ feel at home.  We made Samson his own bed, got food and water bowls out and Woody generally just looked after him and ‘Brian the lion’ constantly.  We then made an animal obstacle course involving ladders, trampolines, balancing, and a high wire and the stuffed toys had time trials.  We had a late entry in buzz lightyear who blitzed the competition.  Quite unexpectedly, Sidney the fat cat doorstep came second and Samson cam a respectable third.

We have a quick lunch and Woody and I make gingerbread dough.

We then rustle up Samson and Brian and read every book on the shelf which is about Lions or Tigers.  I must say, there is quite a few.  But Woody loves it.  At this point, Woody is meant to be resting but in actual fact, he just makes a fool of me and Noah by running rings around us.

I make some admin calls, do I have more admin than anyone in the whole world.  This time I am sorting out an error in Woody’s immunisation records which is quite problematic and apparently takes a trillion phone calls to resolve.  It is still unresolved, so expect more on this tomorrow.....

I also find out I have won 3 tickets to see The  Pirates! Band of Misfits! On Sunday.  Elwood was not sure about this at first, but I have promised him snacks of pirate gold and gingerbread shaped pirate ships.  I win him over.

And then Noah top trumps my bit of good news by taking a call from a company he applied to a while back wanting to see more of his portfolio.  Hold onto your hat folks, the company is Billabong.  Yep.  Billabong.  He is on a short list.   We are big fans of short lists.  We are trying not to get too excited and we are failing.   Oh man.  This is the holy grail.

So this afternoon, Noah continues to work, and I play trains and lions with Woody.  I cook some dinner and Woody and I finish of the gingerbread men.   At one point Woody gets a bit over excited so we make so we make him a spot to sit and and tell him to do some 'chillin like bob dylan'.  He obliges and puts his feet up, has a gold drink and after 5-10 minutes he gets up and calls out to Noah, 'Daddy, I am NOT chillin’ like Bob Dylan anymore'.  We crack up.  We have some diinner and Woody has a bath and goes to bed and then spends about half an hour being a bit of a pickle.

Noah is still working, I blog and get a bit emotional when all the Biggest Loser contestants get a makeover.  I gush about all of them and even Noah comes to have a look, but unlike me, he does not get emotional.

So, tonight.  Noah has work to do, has got to get stuff to Billabong, and has some other applications to do.  So, it is all systems go around here.  I am going to put some toast on now to keep us going.

We have some mountains to move tonight, so I had better crack on.  xxx
