We wake and we do not ache today. We are all super dooper chipper at that (except Noah is a bit sleep deprived as a result of work and caring for high maintenance sickies). So we let the husband/father snooze and Woody and I get up and have brekkie and get ready for footy.
Elwood gets a bit nervous before footy and usually makes a half hearted attempt to get out of it. Today's excuses are: my t-shirt is comfortable, my t-shirt hurts my shoulders and, my favourite, I have broken my leg. I solve the t-shirt issue by putting a vest on Woody, and adjusting the shoulders. I promise him the coaches will look at his broken leg when we get to footy. So Woody gets up and walks to the car.
I wake Noah and we are on our way. Woody is very excited to have Noah there to watch. Elwood insists I go speak to the coaches about his broken leg. So I do. They listen intently as Elwood explains the situation; the coaches make all the right noises and concerned faces, rub the alleged injury and high five. Job done. Woody is now ready for footy action.
Woody is sensational at footy, there is no doubt about it. He listens to every instruction so carefully, tries hard at everything, behaves well, and best of all, keeps looking back to us grinning and doing a thumbs up. They try some new exercises today and they do one where they pretend to be Buzz Light-year. Well, you should have seen Woody’s face. He was a little sunbeam. Woody added another component to the game and started lasering the coaches by pushing an imaginary button on his forearm and making a really loud laser noise. Noah and I were rolling about laughing. Elwood looked so, so happy just running around lasering things. The remainder of the lesson is equally as brilliant and it is such a fantastic start to the day.
Back at home Woody is shattered. He has not eaten much in a couple of days and he looks suddenly tired. The boys build a lake and play and I head out to interview another mum. The interview goes exceptionally well. I learn a lot for my article and learn some things that I just would not have come up with myself. So I get some content for a good few stories and feel very inspired about the article writing. I also learn lots more about the local schools and low and behold, I have some other schools I need to look at. I am very reassured that there are some very good schools in the area. We also chat about some good local places to visit and plan for the kids to meet up and have a play. A couple of hours very well spent!
Back at home, we have some lunch and high tail it to the post office before it closes. We send some bits to the UK, look for a knight’s hat for Woody (and fail), and buy him an ice cream. And that is Woody done for really, he is tired.
Back at home rustle up some dinner and the boys make a large scale cubby house inside. It is hot and humid and we have all had varying degrees of crazy stomach. For some reason, this inspires me to make a curry (!?). So we sweat through a curry and woody munches something more sensible.
Woody has a quick bath and then I stumble through 3 Dr Seuss books on the trot. That’s hard core. Noah and I Skype the Awesomestow Eve’s and have a terrific chat. It is brilliant and really makes me fancy a gin and tonic.
I watch some swimming, Noah works, I faff around a bit looking at schools, we chat, I blog and that is pretty much it. This evening everything is taking me too long; I am on the wrong speed. It’s midnight and we are failing on to do list from Thursday – Saturday. Not great. We’re hoping for a miracle.
Goodnight. x
