We get ready for playgroup and head into Southport running pretty late. Neither of us are working and we have 1 child. How we can manage to be late, so frequently, is a mystery to me.
We turn up at playgroup and frankly, it is not much fun. The first week we went I loved it, but the last 2 weeks have not been as enjoyable. The church volunteers are on rotation every week, so I guess it depends who is there each week. Nonetheless, Woody was over the moon that Noah was there, and was dying to show him the train and the train track
After playgroup, Noah needs to crack on with some work. So we set the tent and ready bed up outside and Woody is super happy. We read books over lunch and Woody is enjoys his makeshift accommodation. He plays with all his wild animals and creates quite a busy watering hole for the animals. The lions and tigers just can't seem to get along, and there are frequent fights break out amongst them atop a cliff. But that's Lions for you....
When we are sweating like pigs and can take take the humidity in the tent no longer, we head back inside for some reading and some TV. At some point around this time, we eat the entire batch of scones without really noticing.
Noah finishes his work and we are all dying to get some sand between the toes, so we head down to Main Beach. Gorgeous and fabulous, as always. We all feel completely like brand new people, the second our feet touch that sand. Brilliant. Woody gives us Noah and I a big hug and announces we are all from Dream Team Land. Another lovely Woody moment.
We then head over to Labrador to catch up with Dan, Kelli and Elijah and Kell's folks. We have a fantastic fish and chips on the water and Woody plays on the climbing frame. There is a brilliant moment where Woody's face lights up when he sees a kid. He screams with delight, 'I know you, you are from my school.' The kid beams back at Woody and says.
Noah takes over Woody patrol and I catch up with Dan and Kelli. It is a gorgeous, relaxed evening and is it so nice to be outdoors, chatting and eating.
When the kids are running out of batteries, and we are being eaten alive by mozzies, we decide to head home. Woody is asleep in one heart beat. Noah and I plan to do some work, and Noah does a bit, but I have the bright idea to download some of the episodes of New Girl. Big mistake. We did not get any work done. We just laughed and hid behind our hands in the most cringe worthy moments. Love it.
I suppose we can be forgiven for not getting jobs done. It is Friday after all. Give it up for Friday.
Good night. x
