So I get up and wander around and there is no Noah and no Woody. Strange. I spy my mobile and Noah's mobile on the counter so I know there is no way I can contact them. So there is nothing to do but enjoy a cup of tea and some brekkie. Hello Sunday Morning, I love you.
It is footy training this morning, so I get ready and get Woody’s stuff ready and wait for the fellas to come home and we high tail it to football.
Turns out the fellas have been at the climbing frame. Full points to both of them, as it is kind of drizzling
We are running late for football so I have to change Woody’s shoes en route and we literally dress him as he is running into the hall. I do, however , find the time to sternly remind Elwood that he needs to behave and listen to Coach Kayden in this lesson. I may have also offered him a small bribe, to which he replied 'No thank you’. Crap. We have not been able to change his shorts, brush his hair, or wipe his face so he arrives looking like he has been sleeping rough. Coach Kayden appears with one of his trademark high fives and football practice is underway.
Woody is brilliant. He listens for the entire lesson and does what he is told. I know that this sounds like something quite normal, but you have to understand there is so much temptation to misbehave. There are balls to throw, cones to kick over, markers to squash, and stairs to climb..... 3 year old temptations everywhere. Our favourite part of the lesson is watching Elwood almost misbehave, and then change his mind. One time, he literally has his foot ready to kick something over, and the thinks better of it, another time he tries to push in line, and then goes back to his place. He loves this lesson and he does really, really well. He is crazy about the high fives and the praise of the coaches. At the end the kids gets stamps and stickers, except Elwood hates both stamps and stickers. So he takes Noah over to get a stamp from Coach Kelly. A very special moment.
After football we take Woody to Old McDonald’s Farm for lunch which he is very happy about
We optimistically head to Burleigh beach in search of the markets. It has been raining all morning and the markets are not on. We drive back up to Southport to see what movies are on, but we have seen all 3 kids’ movies. We do see that Madagascar 3 is coming soon so Woody gets super hyped about that. Big Madagascar fans in this house. So we let Woody think he is having a go on lots of the amusements and head home.
We download the Lion King and snuggle up on the sofa with popcorn. A proper Sunday afternoon. At the end of the movie it has stopped raining so we head back out to the climbing frame, now know as Pride Rock from the Lion King. Woody is wearing his lion’s mane (his check hat) and his lion’s tail (my scarf) and joins the other kids climbing. He is welcomed by another kid saying to him, ‘ Do you think you are the coolest kid in town?’ Elwood does not really have a view on this, so he just says I’m a lion’. So they both play lions for a while and try and join in with some kids playing a completely different game. They are a bunch of bossy boots ; one is yelling ’I have a boat licence so I will be the captain – she is 5yrs old’ and another boy replies ‘Well my dad has a boat so I should be the captain – don’t you dad?’ . Elwood tries to join in and says ‘ Well I am 5 and soon I will be turning 6’. He says it with such conviction but no one buys it.
Back at home, Woody has a bath, some dinner, and briefly behaves like a lunatic. Noah puts him to bed and I attempt another Vietnamese dish. Tofu with herb and noodle salad. Roaring success, I have to say.
We watch the end of Horrible Bosses and then Noah gets back to work and I snack and blog.
Goodnight lovely people.xx
