...And I'm feeling good!

This morning starts as our days tend to, finishing the stuff we did not do yesterday.

So I update the blog, and Elwood does his fireman thing.

We decide we are each going to choose something we really want to do together today – to start the new year. We all choose going to the beach.  That was easy!  Noah adds in kite flying, and then I add in chocolate biscuit baking.

So, we head out to Main Beach and we cannot get a park.   Admittedly, the weather is fantastic and it is a public holiday weekend, but we are locals and expect priority parking. Sadly, this is not the case.  So we keep heading down the coast, through Surfers, and we stop at our beloved Broadbeach.

We are in luck, there is a craft market on and it is fantastic.  I wander around the markets and the fellas fly the lobster kite.  I get some supplies and we have lunch in the park and keep playing with the kite.  Woody rolls down the hills in the park – which makes me smile – as this is exactly what Justin and I would do in this exact spot and I am pretty sure I would have been Woody's age, or there abouts.

Woody is developing a fascination with skateboards.  Whenever he sees one he stops what he is doing and stares, mouth agape.  He thinks it is the coolest thing ever.  He will also quite often follow skateboarders around and ask if he can have a go.  Oh dear, that boy has a thirst for adventure – I am going to have to toughen up.

Elwood then has a go on the exercise equipment in the park – watch out Muscle beach!  We let him 'do his exercises’  for ages, in the hope he tires himself out.  He does not, so we hit the sand.

The fellas hit the water and I sit and listen to my audiobook and read the paper.  I sit near the walkway onto the beach as there is a decent amount of space there.  I realise now, no one sits there as everyone who walks off and on the beach kicks sand on your newspaper.  Grrr.  Beach-rage.  People, take your flip / flops off on the beach and stop flipping sand on my newspaper!

Woody comes back, exhausted begging to go home and go to sleep.  He suggests that he has a sleep and I bake the biscuits on my own, so they are ready for him when he wakes up.  Elwood is unbelievable!

He doses in the car and then he wakes up fresh as a daisy 5 minutes later.  Oh, to have the energy of a 3 year old!

At home, we sort some cupboards, repack some bits, write some thank you cards, cook dinner and play fireman based games all at the same time.

We feed and bathe the little fella, and then he puts up a little bit of a fight, and then he is sound asleep.

Noah and I do a bit more sorting of things, send some emails, write some notes, and Noah made some signs for Woody’s room.

We are very productive today – have you noticed?  I hope we are not peaking too early in this new year!

It is now midnight – and there are still some things highlighted on my now colour coded ‘to do’ list.  Do we or do we not stay up and finish everything in green highlighter?  We are low on snacks – it’s a long shot.

Goodnight from day 1  2012.  One day in, 2012 is looking good.
