We had a slow old start to the day today. Noah stayed up until all hours working on his portfolio last night so a take it easy morning was in order.

Elwood played happily at home with his figures, whilst I sat on the veranda, checking emails, sipping coffee and thinking that this is the life.

Elwood joins me and draws pictures and later sets up an office in the lounge room and tries his best to write a list of the characters from the Gruffolo.  He enjoyed having an office.  Noah and I had to knock to come in and sometimes he gave us a quick call (from a pack of cards as a phone) to suggest what he would like to do today or what he might like for lunch.  He was very professional. That's my boy!

Woody and I then headed over the road to the beach for a couple of hours and played on the sand and amongst the trees.  Elwood was a hunter and was looking for bears.  He was carrying a big stick, wearing wellington boots, and adopting the mannerisms and voice of a Disney- style hunter.  He looked very odd, but he was happy so I was happy.

We wandered home and stopped at a hot dog van, at Woody’s request.  A man had a converted trailer into a BBQ which was decorated with bamboo and surf boards.  Elwood was well impressed.  The man was try to cook whilst answering Elwood’s questions about how he made it.  The bloke talked Elwood through the welding and making the frame and Elwood was fascinated, although slightly disappointed when the man admitted he bought the wheels and did not make them.  Although the man was suddenly back in favour when Elwood realised he could make fire.  I could tell by the look on Elwood’s face what he was thinking: 'I need to get me one of these!’

Back at home, Noah was ready to hit the beach so we were off to Sunset beach.  When we arrive the surfing competition is on so there is no swimming so we keep heading north.  We stop and pick up some fruit and then go back to Turtle Bay so Woody can have a swim.

Elwood was delighted when he saw where we were.  He did lots of swimming and also walked in the water with his big stick so he looked like a spear fisherman.

Now we have had a dip, we head back to Sunset Beach.  But it is cloudy and the sunset is not up to scratch (Ha!  We have been spoilt in Hawaii!!!).  So Elwood behaves like a lion and then we have a bit of a wrestle in the sand.  Good times.

Back at home I rustle up some dinner, whilst Noah and Elwood do some ‘work’ in Elwood’s office.  Elwood is charming.  Over dinner he asks me, quite seriously, if I miss my Mum.  He seems quite concerned.  He says when he is older him and Grandma are going to work together (this is not an unusual thing for him to say, he thinks they are going to start a band when he is older).  He also thinks they will live together, and he has told Noah and me that we will need to get another baby then.  When pressed if he would like a brother or sister, he replied brother, as he already has a sister – Isla!  He later changed his mind and asked if we could have Isla.  Andrea and Lee – we may need to have a quick chat....

Out internet access is still hit and miss.  Noah thinks he has found the best spot in the house to access the internet – it is exactly where Elwood is currently sleeping.

We are looking at the photos from today, and we cannot believe how tall Woody has become.  It feels like the last couple of weeks he has had a growth spurt and he seems so tall and strong.  He also seems to have changed in the last week, and he suddenly wants to learn numbers, words, and draw and write.  Noah and I are obviously delighted.

We realised today that we only have 7 days left on the North Shore, and then another 6 days in Hawaii and then the real world awaits. (Yikes!)  I want to slow time down!

Happy Saturday Night Folks!
