We sleep until 8 this morning and head straight to brekkie.

We intend to get going early this morning, but Noah and I are thwarted by an overdose of healthy, nutritious food yesterday from Cafe Gratitude and our bodies simply aren't used to that anymore. Apologies if you're eating whilst reading this by the way, so our getting ready, packed up and sorting a plan for the day takes longer than expected.

We finally get going around 10.30am and we are on our way to Sunset Strip.  We don't stop, just do some videoing and take photos, as there is very little open as it is mostly night time venues.  We see the Viper Room, Roxy and Whiskey-a-go-go and feel a little bit cooler on the inside.

We go for a drive in Beverly Hills, as you do, and admire the big houses.  My mum has less admiration and wonders why anyone would want to live in such pollution.  Noah and I agree that the people of Beverly Hills look quite good on the pollution; it is not doing them that much harm, so we could definitely live there.

We park up near the Beverly Hills sign.  Elwood climbs a tree and I attempt to use the public toilet 3 times but each time it was full of homeless men - now I did not expect that.  I decide to hold it and walk awkwardly down Rodeo Drive.

Gorgeous, just gorgeous.  And they were setting up to film something too.  The sun was shining and we half heartedly window shopped but mostly just soaked up the atmosphere.  We walked the end the road and had a 'Pretty Woman’ moment outside the Beverly Hills Wiltshire Hotel.

We wandered over a block to Beverly Drive where we intend to shop the more high street type shops.  But we are distracted by The Cheesecake Factory.  We had some fab nachos and a token salad and Elwood had a proper meal (with cutlery and everything!).  We then had a couple of slabs of cake (Elwood had been calling the waitress over to ask for cake since we arrived).  Elwood’s was called Chocolate Blackout and he started by eating the icing first.  After a just a couple of minutes Elwood is completely out of his tree, saying ‘Let’s dance’ over and over again.

We finish wandering in Beverly Drive and go back to the Beverly Hills sign to pose for photos and Elwood had another tree climb.

From Beverly Hills we head down to Venice Beach.  I am keen to check out Muscle Beach and Elwood  really needs to run off some of the ‘chocolate blackout’.  So we have a bit of a run on the beach.   I joke on the way that no-one has switched the fog back on, as the sky is lovely and sunny, and within a minute, the fog ceiling strikes back so there is no more sun and it is icy cold. Elwood runs loops on the beach for a few mins before we point him in the direction of the playground where he proceeded to jump off highs things until Noah and I could take it no more and we went back to the beach.    Mum and I were freezing and looked for a place to huddle out of the wind but Elwood and Noah headed for the sea. Elwood gradually got his kit off as his splashing around in the waves got him increasingly wet. They came in and we changed Woody into dry clothes. Noah, just for reference crazy patterned shorts and a stripy top is not good fashion, although Elwood  rocks this bazaar look very well. We played a ball game and then had a couple of rounds of ‘pile on’ before I was too freezing to go on.  We do not run into Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, or Cameron Dias – so that is a bit crap.

After many u-turns, we make it to Santa Monica Pier and feel very, very happy to make it to the official end of Route 66.  I feel very proud of this amazing adventure my family has been on.  We pose for photos and I regret that we did not air punch or high five.

We then drive to Santa Barbara.  This is very strange as we briefly drove out of the fog, and there was a fabulous sunset.  And then minutes later we drove straight back in the fog and it was night time. Just like that! Freaky!

We razzed around Santa Barbara to get some dinner, and showed the Mothership the delights of Sister Wives and Long Island Medium back at Holiday HQ.  Quality viewing. She is so hyped, she falls asleep.

Goodnight good people. And Mum.  With lots of love xxx
