Right then, last day in Hastings, hoorah!
My last day at work was yesterday. We've been getting up successively earlier to try and beat the heat (tops out at about 27 at the moment, ut with no cloud or wind, it's hot, burn time is about 10-11 minutes, even by 10am). Normally I get up at 5:30, to leave by 6:30 so we are working by 7. Friday I was up at 5:15 to be at work by 6:30. Yesterday I was up at 4:45 to be working by 6.
I had a conversation with the administrator the other day while we were sorting out my bank payments. She said that she'd heard that if people walk down the street, or go into a shop in England with no shoes or socks on they'd think it was weird. I said yes, we did. She thought this was incredible - that it should be thought weird - despite me telling her that as far as we're concerned, they were the weird ones. Bloody weird Kiwis!
So, tomorrow I head back to Wellington for a few days (to see some stuff this time - the Te Papa, the national museum, which has a Lord of the Rings props display, the film museum and some other stuff) then I head for the south island.
