Greatings from Tallinn - what a great city, as the guide books say - easily a match for Prague. A simply beautiful old town full of tradition and beauty. We are staying at the Olyimpic harbour where the 1986 Russian (as it was then) Games where held.

We first arrived from Helsinki into Tallinn via the cruise port and set about finding Tallinn City Camping only to find it was a car park due the the Ollesummer Festival being held at the usual camp ground. Claire wasn't in the least happy so we set out finding another which was well worth the travel note the sunset picture in the photos. At this point I have to note our european sat nav does not cover the Baltic states so no doubt we are gonna have some fun and arguements finding our way around?
We headed into Tallinn via the bus on the second day without a ticket as we couldnt work out how to pay (in estonia there are 33,000 characters in their alphabet so good luck working anythin out - if you can your a geniuse). We strolled round the old town feeling very happy with ourselves and realising the jornt through scandanaivaia made this all worth while, ticking of from our book of you must do before you die the bit about buying nuts from a street seller and they where mourish. We found the tourist info and asked where we could eat that evening a tradition estoniaian meal and they recommended Grandma's Kitchen or something like that in Estonian. We ate quite gleefully our way through staters and mains followed by a bottle of wine and the food well all i can say is you must try it for yourself fantastic the best meal in years(except from your sunday roast Irene).

In the evening we tried out the Ollesummer beer festival for ourselves and had a great time getting drunk on Estonian beer and watching the various acts one that was a Jazz singer from England who was great, tryed and failed to pursuade Claire to do a bungee jump but I guess we had both had enough to drink by that stage.

To sum up Tallinn it is simply a must for anyone who has not had the pleasure it wont break the bank, its daylight for 20hrs a day, the sun shines bright and long and the people are courtious and happy to see tourists. What a refreshing change cant wait to see the rest of the country.....
