So anyone that has ever completed a divemaster course knows that there is one final thing you have to do: the snorkel test. What the snorkel test is is basically the final step into initiation of becoming a divemaster, a right of passage so to speak. The general premise of the snorkel test involves making you look like a fool, while consuming copious amounts of liquor for everyone to see besides you. They don you with a mask that is taped over so you can't see out of it, and attached is a snorkel with a funnel on top of it. While you are blind, an instructor stands beside you with a giant pitcher, and mixes your drink for all the crowd to see, and all you can do is wait, listen, and try to figure out what the hell they are putting into that pitcher. All I can say is, is that when it was time to begin the actual test, I was actually nervous for what was going to come down that funnel and into my mouth, I had no idea how much liquid there was going to be, what it was going to taste like, or what anything was that was in it for that matter! And of course, it was too much liquid for me to handle...so I ended up having to spit out and let the last bit spill out of my snorkel. I'm proud that I didn't puke, as I was told it was a brutal mixture of liquors inside this pitcher! It ended up being a good night, winding up at Malditos and playing some pool with everyone! The bad part: I had to conduct a DSD course in the morning.......
