Weeeeeeeeeeeell, after a long flight (with poor, but bearable service) from hong kong, we finally arrived on Helsinki to a beautiful snow laden runway. We only sat in the terminal for a while (which is extremely small to compare other airports, and at times confusing.

Nikita spent 10.00 Aussie dollars on a bottle of water and yoghurt, and caitlin enjoyed a foccaccia and hot chocolate. Our boarding was delayed half hour (once again, bearable) and once the plane started to taxi (another half hour after boarding) we pushed away suspicions after waiting another half hour when we finally took off.

5 hours later, we arrived in beautiful madrid. We were excited to finally be at our destination so we could sleep properly after 3 days of short and interrupted plane sleep. At the time we arrived to collect our luggage, we became worried as only few people were at the baggage collection belt - and our bags hadn't arrived yet. We were told a short delay was the cause of this, but 45mins later, we became worried. When we asked how much longer, we were told that the helsinki airport workers were on strike, and didn't put our luggage on the plane. Okay...

Turns out there is only one flight from helsinki to madrid a day (FUCK!) and we can look forward to it taking anywhere up to 4days to finally arrive.

So - we left the airport (practically in tears) and headed to our hotel.

It is currently 2pm local time in Madrid, and we are praying to god that it is put on our next flight (so we have shoes and bathroom toiletries). GOD HELP US if it hasn't arrived by the time we leave madrid!

On a good note - clothing and shoes are surprisingly cheap in spain so Nikita was able to buy shoes (only had slippers!) today and caitlin clothes (only had tracksuit pants!).

please check out our photos! and our next blog on our current stay in MADRID :)

Hi girls,

Hope things are better. Has your luggage turned up yet? What have you had to buy, and do you get the cost reimbursed? You bloody well should!

Try to forget about this glitch, which you could have done without and put it behind you. Bloody Finnish airport workers! I hate them too. You have 4 weeks of exciting things ahead of you, relax and just enjoy the rest of your trip.

love
Mum
