We had a very long truck day as we had to get the ferry and then stop at Troy before getting to the campsite near Ephesus. .

At Troy we opted for the guide and he was very knowledgeable, and for some reason had a leaf tucked into the nose piece of his glasses, but you really needed time to wonder around by yourself to appreciate it. I didn't feel like I really got to see it which was a shame. The touristy wooden horse at the beginning was a little bit lame as well...

We arrived at the campsite quite late but were excited to discover it was right by the beach and we had tons of room to all spread out.

Myself and Sam went for a shower before dinner. Unfortunately hot sweaty bush camps do tend to make them a priority when you finally get to a campsite. This one turned out to be pretty much the low point of the trip as Sam had a empty cubicle next to her and I heard her say in a super British outraged way 'Excuse me' and she then explained that a dirty male hand had appeared over the wall. The hand went away and we continued showering but we could hear something crashing and banging away but thought it was someone moving bins outside the block.

Turns out it was...the owner of the hand had moved a wheelie bin into the spare cubicle and proceeded to climb up on it to look over at Sam in the shower. She was screaming at him and hitting him but he wouldn't go away. I was stuck naked in the next cubicle and started to shout as well. As I managed to get a towel round me and get out of the shower to see what the hell was going on the man was wondering out, completely out of it from all appearances and a gang of local women rushed passed and chased him out. I later heard they gave him a proper beating before the police (who were based right by the campsite) took him away.

Poor Sam was super shaken up but rallied like a trooper. She still finds herself looking up in the shower it they aren't floor to ceiling walls though.

The man was kept in the cells over night then driven 100 miles away. Ali said that the lights were on but no one was home when she went to the station. Unfortunately to press charges Sam would have had to stay in Ephesus after the rest of us had gone.

That evening we had songs on the beach and a midnight swim. Driver James and I were the last to bed as we stayed up debating the merits of Old Manics v New Manics.

James is 24 but seems like he is a lot older and a font of random knowledge and experiences. He is also an amazing driver and maneuvers our 32 ton truck like a mini!

Next day we discovered we were all covered in mozzie and sandfly bites. The showers and loo block were particularly infested which meant for some bites in very annoying places! The Antipodeans still don't seem to get bitten though - damn them.

It was so lovely having a beach break. Myself and Amelia did yoga on the beach in the morning and we all spent a lot of time in the sea playing with the mini American football Peaches had bought with him.

That night was the first Uk to Oz 2010 Pub Quiz Night courtesy of Quiz Master Mark. I was in a randomly drawn team with Caleb, Larry, a very cool lady from Somerset, and Dick, an ex copper with a dirty sense of humour. We didn't think we stood a chance but to our surprise we were winning by half way and after some inspired guesses ended up the overall winners so broke out our victory dances

The party continued on the beach where I proceeded to lose my watch so ever since then I haven't really had a clue what the time is. Which is often a great feeling :)

The next morning we went to the ruins at Ephesus which were much more impressive than Troy. It was extremely hot though so I treated myself to Ben & Jerrys Cookie Dough for breakfast!

The afternoon was one of my favourite as we took over the sea for a game of boys v girls piggy in the middle with pretty much everyone on the trip joining in at some point.

It was the perfect end to a great beach break but I was looking forward to moving on to somewhere with less mozzies. I was starting to look like some kind of plague victim!
