Leaving behind the boring, scummy beaches near Trujillo, we arrived into Mancora at 4am. We had managed to score the 'downstairs', 'first class' seats on the overnight bus and were woken to find the bus sitting at Mancora station. We quickly, sleepely gathered our possessions and jumped off the bus before it sped of to its next destination.
We had heard lots about Mancora and it beautiful tourquiose beaches that attracts sufers from all over South America. We could thinkof no where better to spend our last few days as just Nikie and James. In a few days time we would be meeting up with the relatives for a early Christmas on the Galapagos.
We checked into, Kimbas Bungalows, cute little bungalows set just back from the beach. We slept for a few hours and woke to the sound of the ocean lapping and birds singing. Wonderful!!
Mancora beach seems to go on forever and we spent our first day exploring and searching for a self-catering apartment to spend the next few days in. We nosed around dozens of apartments, villas and luxury mansions right on the beach before settling for the wonderful BuenaVista apartment. A little pieceof luxury all to ourselfs. Being the off season, we had the whole complex to ourselves pretty much, which included a beautiful pool and private stretch of white sandy beach. Luxury. I could get used to this!!!
Being a mecca or South American surfers, James took the opportunity to dive into the sea and try his hand at surfing. I like a good girlfriend, sat on the beach sunning myself and being very supportive, whopping and clapping everytime he managed to stand on his board. I wimped out of the surfing, afriad I might get eaten by a great white or giant squid.
We felt like movie-stars the whole time we were in Mancora. Our little piece of luxury. A perfect way to end our perfect trip around South America.....and we still had the Galapagos to go!!!
