Where I stayed
Rodeway Inn Mt Rushmore
Went to see the monument being made of Crazy horse in the Black hills it was amazing and is bigger than the Washington Monument, Crazy horse was started in the 60s by 1 man now there is a team of like 15 they target to have it finished in 40 years!
Drove to Custer State N.P after stopping off for a picnic on the way, drove round the 'Wildlife loop' in Custer state park, all sorts of animals were about and walking up close to the car, Prairie Dogs, Chipmunks, Burros, Prong horns, Buffalo, was really good fun and will go again before we leave south Dakota.
Went back to Mount Rushmore for the night display basically we sat in the outdoor amphitheatre and watched a video about the presidents and import history about the birth of the USA.
Then all the 2 thousand odd people had to stand to sing the national anthem it was so strange to see how madly patriotic the Americans are then they invited any people who had served for the military to the stage where they lowered the American flag and passed the flag round to all the 200 odd people on stage this was so funny as I don’t think they was supposed to be passing flag to everyone it lasted over an awkward 20mins of just people passing the flag to each other whilst everyone there had to stand in a respectful silence. It all got too much for me & Lou so we snuck off and went back to hotel, they were probably still passing the flag round for an hour after we left.

Very funny entry. How long have you got the hire car? how far are you driving? BTW It's REALLY hot at home now. And we still have to go to work! not much fun.....
we had the hire car for like 4 days, it was so nice to have our own mobility because weve been working out, locating and waiting for busses, tubes & taxis for too long. i doo feels sorry for you all back home and having to work ! wish we could do this traveling thing all the time !
