The next day saw 20 of us leaving the truck (queue tears and lots of hugging) and numerous taxis bound for
Shiraz. The hotel in Shiraz was our best yet sharing with Scott & Lauren – a/c, all looked clean and new – fully tiled, western toilet, good showers, nice food at the hotel. I then didn't leave the hotel for 2 days!! I only ventured out on the last evening to go and get pizza and chips!!! (An authentic last meal in Iran!) Even the airport in
Shiraz was very civilised – and there were chunky kitkats, snickers and bountys!! And even better – my bag was under the 20kg limit – woo hoo!! Think it was about 18kg – my general chucking out and donating of various items has evidently been a success – but my bag was still the heaviest of the lot!! We then had ham sandwiches and hamburgers before we finally made it out of Iran. 10 of us arrived an hour or so later in Sharjah for our connecting flights and made it to the top of the escalators to find a dunkin donuts outlet. We immediately stopped and ordered 48 donuts between us…dunkin donuts….hmmmmm yummy….!! Then to get a truly authentic meal in the UAE we went to Mcdonalds and had big macs, fries and oreo mcflurrys..!
