ok so today we went to see the ramayana ballet at the prambanan temples. in simpler words: we went to see a ballet telling a local story near yogya. the open-air theatre is right next to the prambanan temples, which is very gorgeous. instead of booking a tour we wanted to take the local bus and not only save money but i get an idea of public transportation here. big mistake. after a detour we did find the bus station and managed to get in the direction we wanted but at the stop where we had to change buses we waited for at least 30 minutes and every bus that drove by was full and wouldn't take us, even if more people exited than would've entered. ridiculous!! in the end we got so mad and fed up we just left and hailed a taxi. when we finally got to the temples we had a good look at them and just enjoyed the view for a while. they're really neat, those buddhist temples. very charming in a way. i wish i could see them when they were made.. with all the people there and the surroundings the way they were.. no 3-lane streets.. after that we went to the market and bought some fruit.. there's a fruit with dragon scale skin.. i've seen it before and didn't dare try it. but the lady selling fruit gave us some to try and it sort of tastes like strawberries.. but it's a lot harder. i'll take a picture tomorrow or so. at 7.30 the show started. i really liked it. i really wanted to hear a gamelan orchestra while being in indonesia and i finally got to hear one. javanese gamelan is quite different from balinese gamelan, which i'm more familiar with. but nevertheless, i enjoyed it very much. i also loved the costumes and their style of dancing. unfortunately it all seemed very improvised and i wasn't quite sure what to think of it. instead i just tried to ignore how off some of them were or how insecure they sometimes looked so i could enjoy the show more. i'm glad we went though! it's a once in a lifetime experience.

tomorrow we'll be leaving yogyakarta. our time here went by really quickly. we're taking a bus early tomorrow morning to bromo. it's a national park i think and there's a famous volcano called mt. bromo. as you may or may not know indonesia is basically a set of volcanoes. mt. bromo's last eruption is almost 2 years back (november 2011). so i think we should be fine. ;) we're going to spend the night in bromo, look around for a bit and then continue on to denpasar. finally! BALI, I'M COMING!!!! :) yay yay yay.. in 48 hours we'll be there.. yess!

ok, that's it for tonight. ttyl. <3
