alrighty then. sorry for not blogging but i just didn't get around to it. instead i went for a swim in the pool.. :P anyways, today we decided to take a trip to little india and arab street. it was so beautiful. i love how things are dirty there and it feels more like a village. it's like a bubble sorta.. first we went to a hawker, which is basically a food court. there are little booths with food, drinks, fresh fruit juice, etc. i haven't eaten there so far but the juice we bought was delicious. upstairs there was a clothing version of a hawker. the little picture i posted really doesn't do it justice. it was just a very  quick snapshot. in reality it is an amazing place with thousands and thousands of dresses, blouses, saris, etc. BEAUTIFUL! i will most definitely go there again and bring my wallet. ;) it's not too expensive so it'll be difficult to not just buy them all since they're so nice. you'll see.. ;)
another attraction on our way to dinner in little india was a temple. it's called ஸ்ரீ வீரமாகாளியம்மன் கோவில் (=sri veeramakaliamman temple). the main goddess there kali, an incarnation of shiva's wife parvati. another god who is represented there is - of course - the wonderful ganesha, the chubby guy with the elephant head. we happend to be there right before one of their prayers began.. you could receive some sort of blessing and food.. i'm not entirely sure what it was.. they also had music and offerings to the god i think. it was really interesting and such a peaceful place. i loved it. it felt really warm too, not sterile like our churches so often do. after that experience we went for a well-deserved dinner (thank you, benjamin!). soooo good! indian is delicious. lemon fish, tikka masala, naan, lady fingers and a cold tiger beer! yum! mind you, after that dinner we didn't walk anymore, we rolled around. ;) arab street was much less exciting than little india in my opinion. we went to mustafa though, a mall. but not just any mall.. man you should see it! i can't even begin to describe. imagine manor in switzerland or say walmart in canada, about 7 stories and still endlessly huge, a ton of people and shelves so close together that two people just fit. the place is packed! crazy crazy. and fun. ;)  -  what a way to end a good first week! :)
