It is hard to believe that today is only my fourth day in Africa! I feel like I have been here longer than that for some reason. Well we began our classes today here at APU South Africa. There are 3 classes that the whole group is taking, then you got to choose 2 electives or Zulu unless you are a nursing student then it's a different story. I chose to take Zulu so that I could wipe out my foreign language in one semester rather than two, which means I have 8 units of Zulu to do this semester! We had our first class tonight and it seems that this won’t be as easy of a task as I had originally thought.

Since I had a 2-hour break between teatime and lunch and no classes, Britni, Brenna, and I decided to go for a run in the game reserve and run the whole 3-mile loop. …Well Reg, the director here, told us we would all get lost the first time… um yeah we got sooo lost!! I don’t know what exactly we were thinking, but the loop is supposed to stay inside the game reserve but we ended up on a road heading very far away from where we were apparently supposed to be. Anyways we continued running and asking people where Town Bush Road was which would lead us back to African Enterprise but kept getting the same answer " just keep going down this road and take a left". Well we must have missed a lot of lefts because 30 min later we found a road that took us to Town Bush then continued on that until we could find the road that led up to African Enterprise. At this point we had been gone an hour and Brenna and I were forced to walk. This cold of mine won’t seem to go away yet and has made running and activity in general much harder than normal. Britni, however, I’m almost sure could have run the whole thing! She is a pretty great runner. Anyways we walked down Town Bush Road, finally found the road to AE which had posted below it 2km…a.k.a. 1.25 miles still to go! That mile and a quarter seemed so long! We were hot, thirsty, and exhausted but finally we made it an hour and 35 minutes after we left! Yeah, not the run I expected to go on when I left! Luckily we were back just before lunch so that no one would be worried. After lunch when we went to the mall we used the odometer to measure the distance of the road to AE and the distance we walked on Town Bush, turns out just that portion of our trip was 3 miles!! So we are guessing that our trip was 7 or 7 and a half miles total because that was the short part, we had done some back tracking before there and such. Oh and as a little souvenir from that adventure my legs chaffed, haha. And the worst part is we didn’t even see a zebra! But the boys who went after us saw 3 zebras and 11 buck. Tomorrow Britni and I have decided to bike instead so we will see how that goes.
