Our decision to take a car back to Athens rather than the fast cat means we have the opportunity of a stop at Epidavros

According to Pausanias, the ancient theatre of Epidaurus was built by the architect Polycleitus the Younger in the 4th century BC. Situated in the midst of the forest, it is one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece. The theatre is built in such a way that sound travels to the very highest seats. In ancient times, it served as a venue for performance of the tragedies of Sophocles, Aeschylus, and Euripides. There is also a temple to Apollo and another of Asclepius.

The acoustics truly were awesome and we could hear each other from the stage to the top of the theatre using a normal conversational level. Hamish forbid any of us to sing from the stage though.

The ruins of the city were interesting because of the mix of greek and roman buildings that made quite a contrast.

On the way back to the city, we also made a stop to look over the bridge at the Corinth Canal. Amazingly deep! Made me wish we had gone to see the Suez last year by way of comparison.

An easy drive all around.

Sadly easyJet was running late and we didn't touch down and get our bags in hand until 0145. Ugh. Thank goodness we had booked the south terminal Hilton for the night. I wouldn't have wanted to drive.

Best find at the Athens airport is the dispensing pharmacist down at arrivals. Antibiotics for what ails you on demand. Thank goodness!,

Great trip and has certainly given us a taste for more.
