I knew this day was always coming but it always seemed so far away. Yet here it is. The day I fly home. I feel like I've been away for so long, years even and am so very excited to catch up with everyone - just a little sad the adventure is over. Well there's still Bestival..

Thankful to get a good night of sleep, is going to be a long day. Packed, made pancakes for breakfast, said goodbyes to my room-mates and checked out. Left my bags at the hostel as I don't fly until 7pm. Walked to union square to catch the famous cable car which run up and over the hills. You can sit in seats facing out or hang onto the side. Retro. Took a lot of queuing to get onto one but worth it. Ran along the streets down to Pier 39, I wandered a little but not for long. Had already said my goodbyes to Fisherman's Wharf and the bridge.

Caught a return cable car and jumped off half way. Wanted to find the American Zoetrope headquarters again - Francis Ford Coppola's company where there's a cafe. And also the Banksy we passed on the walking tour a few days back. Wandered the streets of china town on my way. It was busy with people shopping at the markets and tourists buying souvenirs. Found the Banksy, am including a picture. Found Zoetrope and headed inside. It has a cool interior, filled with film memorabilia - pictures and posters. Ordered a glass of red - Pinot Noir Directors Cut - fresh from Mr Coppola's own vineyard. Sat watching San Francisco go by and reflecting on my time here..

Has been an enjoyable week although has a very different feel to traveling in the other countries I've been to. Hard to explain, I guess I'd say there aren't as many like minded people here. Although the American's have pretty much been really friendly. I guess the contrast of city life with its fast pace and poverty next to the beautiful landscapes and laid back attitude of New Zealand has felt a little strange too. I genuinely miss NZ.

Headed back to the streets and walked the couple of blocks to downtown. Headed into Westfield and had a farewell bento - sushi, tempura, salad & chicken teriyaki goodness. Walked back to the hostel in the sun - gave the rest of my change to a homeless guy. Picked up my bags and jumped in my shuttle to the airport.

At check in I saw a woman that looked like Ruby Wax, while we were boarding they called her up to the desk and it was! Right phone off, sky-bound. UK here I come..
